On Saturday, November 27, 2021, Linda (also lovingly known as Mammaw and Linder) passed from this world to return home and reunite with loved ones who had gone before her.

She was born in Jackson, TN in 1946 to the late Daniel Guy and Emma Adelia Ferguson.

She attended High School in her hometown, and was crowned Miss Jackson High in 1963. She was a graduate of the class of 1964. After high school she served as a substitute teacher at JB Young Elementary and began a lifelong stint as a talented seamstress. As her children entered their teens, she began her career in earnest. First in sales, at Coca Cola Bottling Company in Jackson, where she met her future husband, Charles Taylor, Jr. She and Charles were married in 1983 and were together until his passing earlier this year. Shortly after their marriage, Linda went to work as a dispatcher at Pictsweet Express in Bells, TN. She retired from there 30 years later.

Throughout her life Linda loved hosting family and friends for special occasions. She and Charles held annual (and delicious) Thanksgiving breakfasts for many years. It became a tradition that many looked forward to as autumn arrived. Her very favorite Holiday was Easter. She loved celebrating the glory of the resurrection and all of the grandkids she doted on loved her offbeat Easter Egg Hunts.

Linda also lived a life of service. As she entered midlife she began baking homemade bread - mouthwatering delicious! She baked it, but rarely kept it; giving it away to friends, family, neighbors, those that may be hurting and those in need.

One of the highlights of her life in the service of Christ came in 1993 - a mission trip to Russia and countries in Eastern Europe. She and Charles taught local children in Sunday Schools, distributed Bibles and shared the word of Christ. It was an experience she spoke thankfully about for the rest of her life. In the early 2000’s, Linda joined Beta Sigma Phi – a local service sorority and took part in numerous community projects. She stayed involved for many years and later served as an officer.

She found tremendous joy in her family, a beautiful fall day, Dr. Peppers, carding and other crafts, Blizzards from Dairy Queen, reading, playing with her fur babies, and traveling throughout West Tennessee in search of fine cuisine. She was funny, sassy, compassionate, caring, kind, tough, loved to play tricks, had a beautiful smile and never met a stranger.

Most importantly, she was a devout Christian. Her love for Jesus Christ and service to her Savior was evident in the life she led. She was a member of Bible Grove Baptist Church, where she was at one time a Sunday School teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Guy & Emma Ferguson and her husband Charles Taylor, Jr.

She is survived by sons – David Hall (Cynthia) and Marc Taylor (Mary); daughters – Karen Ellis (Russ), Karol Morris (Lynn) and Lisa Humphrey (Jerry); brother – Robert Ferguson (Brenda); sister – Dee Ann Turner (Dale); grandchildren – Ashton Yarbrough, Hannah Lowrance, Zachary Hall, Parker Hall, Rusty Ellis, Keaton Ellis, Mason Taylor (Presley), Jordan Taylor (Kerri), Anna Taylor, Amanda Geater, and Andrew Davis; great grandchildren – Greyson Coleman, Leo Hall and Raiden Hall. She is also survived by her very special friends Jan & Gene Cain and Kay Schang.

Honorary Pall-bearers are David Hall, Zachary Hall, Parker Hall, Rusty Ellis, Mason Taylor, Jordan Taylor, Stephen Turner and Greyson Coleman.
