William (W. A.) Mitchell

Funeral services for Mr. William Arzell (W. A.) Mitchell will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2023, at Latham’s Chapel Baptist Church will Rev. Tommy Stutts officiating. Burial will follow in Latham’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until service time at the church.

Mr. Mitchell, 93, passed away Friday, June 16, 2023, at his home.

He was born in Medina to the late Lee and Ida Bell (Eubanks) Mitchell. W. A. was a graduate of Medina High School and was valedictorian of his class in 1947. W. A. had served as pastor of Friendship Baptist Church and Latham’s Chapel Baptist Church. Some of his favorite pastimes included CB radios, working on computers, studying chemistry, enjoying God’s nature, raising flowers and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, LeRoy Mitchell.

W. A. is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alma Joyce (Foust) Mitchell; sons, Noel Mitchell and wife Missy, Chris Mitchell and wife Julie, Gaylon Mitchell; grandchildren, Danny Mitchell, Sarah Mitchell, Amanda Wilson (T. K.), Dane Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Jacob Damron, Hazel Mitchell, Haislee Mitchell, and one soon to be expected; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
