Sue, matriarch of the family and affectionately known as “Sue-Sue” by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many others who knew her, loved her family sincerely. Holidays and special occasions were always celebrated with gifts and food made with love by Sue-Sue.

She was a devoted and lifelong member of Oak Grove Methodist Church, serving dutifully as Secretary-Treasurer of the Oak Grove Cemetery Society for many years. Before arthritis took its toll, Sue was an avid seamstress who made countless dresses and clothes for children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Coble retired after twenty-two years working for the University of Tennessee Agricultural Extension Service in the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program. Her time was spent helping homemakers and youth in the SPIFFY program (Special Program In Foods For Youth).

Nellie Sue Coble was preceded in death by James P. Coble, her husband of 59 years, whom she adored. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Robert Clifton and Anna Laurie Barker, a sister, Peggy Mathews, and brother, James Barker. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Kilzer and husband Tommy, of Humboldt, and her son Randy Coble and wife Bonnie, of Mercer. She is also survived by her brother, Gene Barker, of Edison; her five grandchildren, Rebecca Mayfield (Eric) of Cedar Grove, Josh Coble (Ashlie) of Wylie, Texas, Jessica Williams (Lee) of Fort Worth, Texas, Matthew Coble (Haley) of Jackson, and Sarah Brewer (Brian) of Columbia; and eleven great-grandchildren.
