Paul Edward "Ed" Johnson, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. Ed "Prez" Johnson will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, in the chapel of Replogle-Lawrence Funeral Home, with Bro. Joel Pigg officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Milan, Tennessee. The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Paul Edward Johnson, Jr., affectionately known as "Prez," was born in Milan, TN, to the late Paul Edward Johnson, Sr. and Bernice (Garvett) Johnson. He was a 1958 graduate of Champaign High School in Champaign, IL.

Throughout his life, Ed wore many hats. From 1957 to 1964, he worked alongside his father at Paul Johnson & Son Service Station. Between 1972 and 1974, he served as the crew chief of a speedboat named Balling It. From 1974 to 1982, he rejoined his father at Sunny Crest IGA. In 1982, he returned to his hometown of Milan, where he married the love of his life, Janet "Jan" Lynn Johnson. He later worked at CECO Doors until his retirement in 2000.

In retirement, Ed and Jan pursued their shared love of adventure. Together, they traveled all 50 states and visited 11 foreign countries-riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles and creating countless memories along the way.

Ed had a great sense of humor and was often the life of any social event. He loved to ski and was especially funny on a surf ski, always ready with a laugh and never taking himself too seriously. His lightheartedness and joy for life made him a beloved presence wherever he went.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of 38 years, Jan Johnson.

He is survived by his son, Brett Edward Johnson; his grandchildren, Blake Edward Johnson and Bailey Elizabeth Johnson; and a wide circle of cherished friends, both in his community and across the country.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
