Martha Jane Blasingame

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Jane Blasingame will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, in the sanctuary of Medina First Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Pool presiding. Visitation with the family will be held from 10:00 AM until prior to the service at 12:00 PM.  Immediately following the service, a private entombment will be held at Highland Memorial Gardens in Jackson, TN . 

 Mrs. Blasingame, 91, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

 She was born in Jackson, TN to the late Arthur Washington and Mary Josephine (Moore) Cummings. Mrs. Blasingame was educated in the local schools and graduated from Northside High School and Union University.  In 1957, she married William Thomas “Tommy” Blasingame, and they enjoyed 67 years marriage. 

 Martha's life was a testament to unwavering dedication and a passion for education. For over three decades, she devoted herself to the noble profession of teaching, touching the lives of countless students as she nurtured their minds and inspired their hearts. Her impact resonates in the memories of those she empowered and guided. 

 She was a faithful member of Medina First Baptist Church. She loved to share and was well known for her baking and cooking skills. She dearly loved her family and her church family.

 Martha was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Rebecca Beard and Mary Edwards-Slott.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, William Thomas (Tommy) Blasingame; sons, William Thomas (Toby) Blasingame, Jr. and wife Patty, Glenn Blasingame and wife Camille; brother, Bobby Cummings and wife Leola; sister, Linda Graves and husband Allen; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 Martha Jane Blasingame's departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to education will continue to inspire and impact those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her. In this time, let us remember Martha's unwavering spirit and the lasting imprint she has left on our lives.
