John Gus Hicks, age 95, died December 20, 2022, in Mesa, AZ.
He was born on May 23, 1927, in Trenton, TN to the late Claude W. and Lula Dee Hicks.
He was retired president of Home Federal Savings and Loan in Humboldt, TN; a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Humboldt, TN, member of the Humboldt Rotary Club, and a Shriner. In 2019 he was selected as the honoree for the 82nd Strawberry Festival. He served his country in the Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Daire Crosby Hicks; his brother, Claude Hicks, Jr.; sisters, Helen Jackson and Kathleen Buckingham.
Surviving are his daughters, Judy (Steve) Sowell, Tylertown, MS, and Jennifer (Allen) Arnold, Mesa, AZ; his grandchildren, Stephen (April) Sowell, Magnolia, MS, and Jessica (Tyler) Ledsworth, Phoenix, AZ; great-grandchildren, Emily and Luke Sowell, Magnolia, MS, and Peyton Ledsworth, Phoenix, AZ.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
