Jerrie Gowan Murphree

Ms. Jerrie L. Murphree, age 81, passed away after a brief illness peacefully surrounded by family at her home in Medina, TN, on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. As per her wishes, there will be no services held. In memorial, the family asks that you please plant a tree or make a contribution to the charity of your choice.

Jerrie was born in Medina to the late Paul and Nancy Wright Gowan. She graduated from Medina High School "Class of 1960" and lived her entire life in Medina. Jerrie retired after over 30 years of working at the Jackson Sun where she held many positions and was affectionately known as "Murph". Jerrie was known as "Gwang" to the grandchildren and they and her children were the light of her life.

She will be loved and missed by her daughter, Nancy Holladay; son, Michael (Tammy) Murphree, all of Medina, TN; sister, Patsy (David) Calabrese of Dewitt, MI; granddaughters, Linzy Witherspoon (Alexander Jones) of Seattle, WA and Mitzi McCuthison (Gerry) of Nashville, TN; grandson, Andy (Tricia) Murphree of Annapolis, MD.
