Gordon Horn Swanger was born on November 10, 1943 in Williford, Arkansas to Clarence and Martha Swanger and passed away on June 4, 2025. Gordon was a cornerstone of his family, and his generous loving spirit was a constant throughout his life. We will never forget his complementary nature, he loved people intensely and he always made his love known.
Gordon married Emma Blankenship, and their love remained strong until her passing in 1993. Gordon was a loving and supportive husband to Emma, and became family to her son, Tommy Seaton (Kathy). Gordon truly shone in his role as a Grandfather to Shannon Seaton. He was fun, kind, loving, and vibrant in this role her entire life. Gordon also leaves behind two brothers Lee and Darrel Swanger holding happy memories of their time together
Gordon could often be found listening to his radio, reading his Bible, or spending time with his family. He loved to learn and he had a memory that was a vault. He spent much of his life studying. His quiet nature made him a good listener. He deeply loved animals, he was often taking care of stray kittens that would wander up. He adored his great grand dogs and would spoil them horribly.
Gordon will forever be with us as we continue his legacy of love. He treated everyone with kindness and he always cared for the well being of others. He was a soft and gentle spirit with a big heart, how lucky we were to call him ours.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
