Funeral services for Mrs. Melva Jean Mitchell will be held 1 P.M. on Monday, October 5, 2026 at Unity Baptist Church near Oakfield, TN with Mr. Tony Mitchell officiating. Visitation with the family will take place at the church from 11 A.M. until service time. A private family burial will be held at Latham's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery near Medina.

Mrs. Mitchell, 75, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at her home with family and friends by her bedside.

Melva was born in Lawton, OK to the late Rowe B. Craig and Ruth E. Zimmerman Craig. She graduated from Geronimo  High School "Class of 68", then began a long career as a nursing assistant, most recently at NHC Milan. When not working, Melva enjoyed spending time camping at the river and fishing, but her greatest joy came from loving on her family and serving the Lord as song leader at Unity Baptist Church.

Melva was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Craig Vance Fleeman; sister, Mary Singleton; grandchild, Andrew McCoy.

She is survived by her husband of 27 years, William "Mac" Mitchell; daughters, Carla McCoy, Patricia Morrow (Noah); brother, Terry Craig; grandchildren, April Hudson (Kyle), Deborah Steel, Adam Goad (Brittany), Michael Goad; great grandchildren, Scarlett Hudson, Lakelyn Goad.

Pallbearers to serve are: Adam Goad, Michael Goad, Dakota Mitchell, Mickey Deloach.
