Mrs. Barnes, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Madison County, Tennessee, Doris was the daughter of the late William T. Mathis and Linnie Mae Luckey Mathis. She was a longtime faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she loved worshiping her Lord and Savior alongside her church family.
Doris retired from the Milan Army Ammunition Plant after many years of dedicated service in production. She found great joy in gardening, cooking, cross-stitching, quilting, and attending church. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with her family and leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Floyd Barnes; her sons, Randy Barnes and James Barnes; her son-in-law, Jerry Epperson; and her siblings, Opal Ray Mathis, Robert Mathis, and Betty Lou Spencer.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Donna Epperson; her grandchildren, Kevin Barnes, Michael Epperson (Samantha), and Angela Manley (Tommy); her great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Sara, Olivia, Tyler, Kade, Dylan, Gracie, Lucas, and Isaac; her great-great-grandchildren, Piper, Memphis, Knox, Briggslee, and Jayden; and her sister, Wilma Tims.
Mrs. Barnes will be remembered for her unwavering faith, kind heart, strong work ethic, and the love she shared with her family and friends. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
